Boxer Food

Almost as soon as you have brought your boxer home it is time to start feeding it. Although it is not rocket science we are talking about, feeding a dog might be quite tricky since there are some things that need to be thought about. There are different foods depending on the boxer’s age and general health, plus it is important to know what these foods contain in order to know if it is good or if it is bad feeding it to your boxer. Some manufacturers of dog foods have special food stuffs for boxers since these dogs have a slightly different jaw configuration. Any normal food will do but the boxer kind is better.

Boxer Food – Puppies

Puppies are a little bit of a problem when it comes to boxer food, simply because it should not eat adult food, at least not yet. Most breeders will have a feeding program that he, or she, wants you to follow. Obviously you can break the program whenever you please put it is highly recommended that you stick to it since it is professionally planned to give the boxer puppy the best start as it can. Breaking the program should be done slowly and gradually so that the puppy’s stomach will not get upset. Breaking the breeders feeding program too fast might not only be unhealthy for the boxer puppy but also dangerous.

Boxer Food – Kibble

Kibble, also known as dry dog food, is usually one of the most important dog meals and there is no exception when it comes to the adult boxer. Since all dogs are carnivorous at heart they will need a lot of animal protein in order to survive, plant protein will not be as easily digested and is not normal for at boxer to eat a lot of. Look at the ingredients list and see to it that the kibble has meat as its two main ingredients. The ingredients will be ordered after weight with major ingredient at the top. Remember that meal from a meat is better that just meat in the ingredients list. Normal meat contains water which then is removed in order to create the kibble, meat meal is dry from the start.

Boxer Food – Canned food

Although canned boxer food is common it really is not a very suitable meal. The dog might still chow down like it was the best thing ever but the truth is that few canned dog foods are very nutritious. Instead many canned boxer foods will be high on fat which in the end will end up making the boxer fat and, dog obesity is just another word for dog cruelty. Canned boxer food is an excellent addition to the boxer’s normal food but should not be too much of. This does obviously not apply on good canned dog food.

Boxer Food – Natural food

As earlier mentioned the boxer is a carnivore and prefer meat as its main source of food. Because of this many has come to the conclusions that giving the dog raw meat, or slightly prepared meat, is a good thing, and it is. Dogs will not only love their meals but will become strong and healthy by eating just the thing it is built to eat, meat. One slight problem though, it is not possible to just feed the dog with whatever kind of meat that is lying around, a natural boxer food need to be prepared and the diet needs to follow some kind of plan.
