Boxer Training

The boxer is an extremely hard-headed dog with a very strong personality; therefore training should begin as early as possible before the boxer has made up its mind who is boss in the house. It is best to only use encouragement and treats when training a boxer since they are quite sensitive and will react poorly to punishment. Although an adult boxer can be hard to train one can be sure that it remembers everything it learned as a youth. It can not be stressed enough, begin boxer training as early as possible.

Boxer Training – Housebreaking

The process of housebreaking a boxer should begin as soon as the puppy arrives at its new home. As soon as the boxer puppy is housebroken the better and it can be quite difficult to teach later on. With praise and treats the boxer puppy should be encouraged do go about its business outside and if accidents happen inside there is no need to become angry. Accidents are easily cleaned up simply using water and odourless cleaning products. The poop can then be used to mark out a spot outside. The puppy will smell it and soon get the hold on it since it gets loads of encouragement every time it does it outdoors.

Boxer Training – Obedience training

Most people think that obedience training simply is teaching the dog to sit and to lie down but it is rarely that simple; it is more like letting the boxer to know who is in charge. The boxer should come to you, stay where it is or be able to walk next to its master with one simple command. This will make it able to control the boxer even during harsh conditions and it is extremely important that it starts quite early since the boxer soon will get a fully developed personality and will not be as easily impressed as before. Remember that all of the family members need to participate in this boxer training so that the boxer knows its place in the family hierarchy.

Boxer Training – Guard dog

Because of its natural suspicion against strangers the boxer is an excellent guard dog needing none to only little training. While encouraging the boxer to be suspicious it is important not to make the dog too afraid either. It should be capable of separate the mailman from someone trying to steal from, or hurt, the family member. If you want your boxer to act as a trained guard dog and not only barking away at everyone entering the house one should try to get a hold on a dog trainer which could help you out with your boxer training.

Boxer Training – Service dog

A service dog is a highly trained dog which helps people in need and is not something you train by yourself without proper education. There are a whole lot of different kinds of missions suited for the large, loyal and dedicated boxer and boxer training is taking place every day so that they can find missing people, narcotics and explosives and at the same time help people with disabilities including visual and hearing impairment.
